Big Buddy/Little Buddy Mentoring Program

buddyThe Big Buddy/Little Buddy program in the Rocky Point and Shoreham/Wading River School Districts are cross-age mentoring programs whereby the younger students are matchedwith high school volunteers for support and guidance. Big Buddies provide Little Buddies with positive role models, help them improve feelings about themselves, and increase motivation for school performance. Together they participate in activities such as homework, reading, and recreational activities. These activities include social and community living skills. The Big Buddies are responsible and committed to being a positive role model and to help the Little Buddies gain meaningful experiences during high school. They make a difference in a younger child's life. The Big Buddy/Little Buddy programs are in the Frank J. Carasiti and Joseph A. Edgar Schools in Rocky Point, and the Prodell Middle School in Shoreham-Wading River.  Each program is facilitated by one of our student assistance counselors and runs throughout the school year.
